Noa Avishag Schnall

Noa Avishag Schnall portrait

Noa Avishag Schnall is an author, journalist, and photographer born and raised in Los Angeles, on traditional Tongva land, and a longtime resident of Paris. She is an anti-Zionist Arab Jew of Yemeni and Polish descent and a renounced passport holder of the colonial state of Israel.

Her work spans multiple continents, focusing on stories of justice, resistance, and cultural celebration, created in collaboration with underrepresented communities. She holds a Master’s degree in Indigenous Journalism, and her studies continue to inform her commitment to decolonial approaches to storytelling and collective liberation.

In September 2025, she published her first book, Homebound: A Memoir Traversing Oman, which combines photography, hand-drawn maps, and intimate narrative to chronicle a solo road trip along Oman’s coast, from the Yemeni border to the Strait of Hormuz.

In October 2025, Noa joined the Freedom Flotilla Coalition aboard the Conscience, the coalition’s dedicated Media and Medics boat, and in April and May 2026, she sailed on the Adalah. On both missions, the vessels were attacked by Israeli forces and all aboard were sent to Israeli prisons. She joined the mission in her capacity as a journalist and in solidarity with media workers in Gaza, many of whom continue to be targeted by the Israeli military amid the ongoing genocide against Palestinians. Her participation came amid Israel’s continued prohibition on independent international journalists entering Gaza.
