Revital Madar

Revital Madar portrait

Revital Madar is an interdisciplinary political theorist and an associate researcher at the université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Her research examines the relationship between law, sovereignty, and violence in liberal democracies, and is an ongoing attempt to understand how state violence is legalised, normalised, and legitimised through legal and normative mechanisms. She is currently working on her monograph: "Soldiers on Trials: Palestinian Bodies and Israeli Sovereignty", where she offers the first systematic analysis of trials of Israeli soldiers for crimes committed against Palestinians. Her former publications discuss the particularity of Israeli state sexual violence against Palestinians and how Israeli military courts strip Palestinians of the political and singular meaning of their deaths.
